Problem
Anaya Vineyards is a winery whose wines carry the Lodi – Clements Hills AVA appellation. The site has to tell the story of the vineyard and let someone buy a bottle.
Role
I am the lead designer/UX Developer and worked directly with the owners. I developed the content strategy and designed the site and shop, which we moved to Squarespace for its built-in e-commerce and mailing list tools.
Process
Start from the vineyard
I built the site around the Anaya story, not just the product. I led with the family history, the land, and decades of craft, so visitors understood what made these wines different before they reached the shop.
A shop that fits a small winery
We moved to Squarespace because it has e-commerce and mailing list tools built in. I set up the mailing list and member management from the start, which gives the team a direct way to reach their most loyal customers about events, new releases, and local promotions.
Solution
The shop gives each wine its own page, with price, quantity, add to cart, and the wine's details together.

The product photography got a complete overhaul. Each varietal was shot against its own colored backdrop.
Outcome
Anaya Vineyards now has an online shop that sells wine direct to customers across the country, which it did not have before. More than seven varietals launched with studio product photography, each with a distinct look compared with the earlier label-only images.
What I'd change
I have been talking about moving the website to a framework such as Astro. It would give us better performance, optimization, and more control over the layout.
